What is a crossarm strap?

A crossarm strap, sometimes also called a flat iron strap, is a fastener used to secure cables, pipes, insulators, or other hardware to a crossarm. Its shape is shown in the image.

It typically consists of the following components:

The strap body: A flat metal strap (the Handan Jinmai model is made of hot-dip galvanized steel) with high mechanical strength and corrosion resistance.

The upper fastener: An oval-shaped fastener used to tighten and securely lock the strap to the crossarm.

Its core function is to provide an adjustable, versatile, and easy-to-install fixing solution, replacing traditional direct welding or punched bolt fixing methods.

Main Functions

1. Securing Conductors/Lightning Conductors: Attaching suspension clamps or tension clamps to crossarms with connecting straps, thereby supporting or tensioning conductors/lightning conductors.

2.  Installing Insulator Strings: Attaching insulator strings to the ends of tower crossarms or designated locations with connecting straps.

3. Securing Power Distribution Equipment: Mounting bases for transformers, switches, fuses, instrument transformers, and other equipment in distribution lines.

4. Welding Alternative: Providing significant flexibility, eliminating the need for destructive hot-dip galvanizing welding on crossarms, facilitating installation, maintenance, and repositioning.

Common Sizes:

*Common widths include 30mm, 40mm, 50mm, and 60mm. Wider widths generally provide greater bending strength and load-bearing capacity.

*Lengths vary widely, from tens of millimeters to several meters, typically depending on the diameter of the object being secured and the size of the crossarm. Common sizes include 300mm, 500mm, 800mm, and 1000mm. Handan Jinmai also supports non-standard customization.

*Bolt hole diameter and hole pitch: The hole diameter must match the corresponding bolt specifications (e.g., M12, M16, M20). The hole pitch determines the adjustable range of the installation.
