Pole Top Pin for Pole Insulator

Pole top pin is a hardware accessory for utility poles and overhead lines, mainly used to connect insulators.

Construction and Material

1.Main material: Usually made of hot-rolled new steel, this steel is stamped and formed after heating to red, has good strength and toughness, and can withstand various stresses in complex outdoor environments.

2.Surface treatment: Our model adopts hot-dip galvanizing process, with a smooth surface without burrs or other sharp protrusions, which can not only prevent steel from rusting, extend service life, but also avoid scratches and other injuries to installers.

3.Insulator thread: Nylon alloy or cast lead insulator thread can be used. (As shown in the picture, the difference is described in detail below)

4.Size: Common lengths include 18 inches, 20 inches, 24 inches, 25 inches, etc. Lead threads are available in 1 inch or 1-3/8 inch specifications. The straight base design usually has two mounting holes on the base.

The main differences between nylon alloy and lead threads of insulator threads are as follows:

1.Materials and properties

Insulation: Nylon alloy has excellent electrical insulation properties. In a dry environment, it can be used as an industrial frequency insulation material and can maintain good electrical insulation even under high humidity conditions. Lead itself is conductive, so lead threads are not insulating.

2.Corrosion resistance: Nylon alloy is resistant to alkali and most salt solutions, resistant to weak acids, motor oils, and gasoline, and is inert to aromatic hydrocarbons, but not resistant to strong acids and oxidants. Lead has good corrosion resistance under general atmospheric conditions, but may corrode in certain specific chemical environments or acidic environments.

3.Mechanical strength: Nylon alloy has relatively high mechanical strength, with certain tensile and compressive strength, but its rigidity is not as good as metal. Lead has high strength and hardness, and can withstand large loads and torques, but it is easy to loosen under vibration or impact.

4.Temperature resistance: Nylon alloy is easy to deform in high temperature environment, and its use temperature range is limited, generally around 80℃. Lead has a high melting point and can maintain a certain stability in general high temperature environment.

Weight and density: Nylon alloy has relatively low density and light weight, which makes it advantageous in some applications that require weight. Lead has a large density and is relatively heavy.

5.Process and cost

Molding process: Nylon alloy can be molded by injection molding and other processes, with fast molding speed, short molding cycle and high production efficiency. Lead thread is generally made by casting or turning and other processing processes, and its molding process is relatively complex and its production efficiency is low.

Cost: The price of nylon alloy is relatively low, and its raw material cost and processing cost are relatively low. However, the price of lead is relatively high, and lead requires certain process and equipment investment during processing, so its cost is relatively high.

Application scenarios

Nylon alloy thread: Due to its good insulation, corrosion resistance, light weight and other characteristics, it is suitable for the connection of electrical equipment and electronic products, as well as occasions requiring insulation and corrosion resistance, such as communication equipment, low-voltage parts in power systems, etc.

Lead thread: Due to its high strength and corrosion resistance, it is often used in some occasions with high requirements for strength and corrosion resistance, such as the connection of some large mechanical equipment and the connection of building structures.

Environmental protection

Nylon alloy thread is easy to handle after being discarded, and has less pollution to the environment, which meets modern environmental protection requirements. Lead is a heavy metal with certain toxicity. Improper disposal after its disposal may cause pollution to the environment.
